working agreement

This agreement is between the client and Claire Thom.  It's purpose is to establish and clarify our working relationship. Please take time to read it through and we will discuss any questions that you may have.

Our agreement is to meet for the number of sessions we decide upon together and thereafter, as agreed by both of us.

Fees

  • The Initial Consultation is free.

  • Cost is £50 for individual sessions and £80 for couples / relationship sessions.

  • Payment Timing: The session fee is due before the start of each session.

  • Fee Increases: I will give at least three months notice following any price review.

Counselling is offered on the following terms

Together we will agree the nature of the work you want to undertake and the desired outcome. This forms a working contract. I will aim to provide you with help to achieve that outcome in line with our mutually agreed contract.

In the event that for any reason I am unable to keep an appointment, I will give you as much notice as possible and offer an alternative appointment.

You agree to attend the number of sessions contracted for.  In the event of being unable to attend a booked session, I require a week’s notice of cancellation.

Termination of Counselling

At the completion of the agreed number of sessions, we will review whether your desired goals have been met and then agree by mutual consent whether to extend the counselling with further sessions. If you decide to discontinue counselling (other than at the completion of our contract), you agree to attend one further session after giving notice of termination.

Confidentiality

Your work with me is confidential but this confidentiality has certain limits. Confidentiality may not be upheld if I consider that there is a substantial risk of you harming yourself, or others; engaging in criminal activity including money laundering or terrorism; child protection issues. In this event I may contact your GP, or an appropriate authority without further consent from you.

We will not engage in discussions via any form of media outside our session times, except in order to arrange appointments or as specifically agreed, relating only to our sessions.

Supervision

In accordance with codes of ethics and professional practice, I discuss my case load with my clinical supervisor. Any discussion about our work together would be anonymised so that you could not be identified.

Ethical and Practice Standards

If you have questions about the counselling, you should discuss these with me. If for any reason you are not satisfied, I will provide you with copies of the Code of Ethics and professional practice of UKATA and COSCA and their current contact details.
